Living in Ebetsu, Hokkaido, Ito, at 55 years of age, has been taking photos with a digital SLR for 5 years, initially taking it up as preparation for a post-retirement hobby for himself. He first bought a Canon EOS Kiss X50 in 2013, and a year later, he took on the challenge of working with a full-size camera by acquiring a Canon EOS 6D. Ever since, he has enjoyed taking pictures and driving his car on days when he is off work.

Sapporo is the birthplace of soup curry, a dish definitely recommended. “Soup Curry GARAKU” is a popular restaurant where people usually queue up for an hour to enjoy its Sapporo style soup curry and colorful vegetables. In Hokkaido, there are many soup curry restaurants. Try out different soup curries and find the one you like best! Many of the restaurants are within a 30-minute drive from the Rugby World Cup venue. So, don't forget to enjoy the local specialties as well!

Sapporo Lake

Sapporo Lake was created as the reservoir for Jozankei Dam. In the autumn, people flock there to enjoy the colorful leaves. The parking areas are located from the first to the third observation decks.

Moerenuma Park is an urban park where you can casually enjoy the fusion of nature and art. Cherry blossoms in spring and fall foliage in autumn, the park offers a gorgeous view of Hokkaido throughout the year. A wonderful outing spot for locals too, the park is filled with families during the weekends.

Historical Village of Hokkaido

The Historical Village of Hokkaido features relocated and recreated historical buildings from across Hokkaido, dating to when the island first opened to development. Visitors can enter these buildings and feel as if they are stepping back in time to a Hokkaido more than 100 years ago.

From late September to mid-October, Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort's Gondola will be operating as "Autumn Leaves Gondola" for a limited time during the fall foliage season. The bright red gondola looking wonderful against the mountain blazing with autumn foliage, is both great as a vehicle and shooting spot. The gondola will be available during the Rugby World Cup 2019 games, so don't miss out!
